Vanessa DeJean
Vanessa DeJean is a vocalist and vocal coach from Atlantic City, NJ who has been singing since the age of seven. From an early age, she developed a strong appreciation for intentional, disciplined vocal work and a patient, thoughtful approach to both voice and performance.
Raised in a Haitian Catholic tradition, Vanessa’s musical foundation was shaped by the church. She began serving as a cantor in high school, gaining early experience leading singers in live worship settings.
About
Vanessa is currently a student at Berklee College of Music pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Songwriting with a minor in Recording and Production. During her time at Berklee, she has led multiple solo performances that strengthened her vocal performance, stage presence, and audience engagement, while also developing practical leadership skills such as directing a band and preparing background vocal arrangements.
She further developed her sound through performances of the National Anthem for professional sports teams including the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics. These experiences deepened her understanding of preparation, consistency, and performing under pressure; these elements continue to inform her coaching today.
In addition to her work as a performer, Vanessa serves as the Vocal Director for her local church in Massachusetts, where she continues to refine her leadership and coaching approach. Her coaching style is encouraging, affirming, and forward-moving, creating a supportive space where singers can build confidence, consistency, and trust in their voice.
